THE GARDENS

It is the GARDENS that everyone comes to see. There are four main gardens on the property. We offer guided and unguided TOURS from June – Labor Day. For more information please contact cheryl@crystalgardensm22.com

Frankfort Michigan Hosta GardenThe HERB GARDEN, located below the Barn Swallow. This garden features every kind of herb to touch, taste and smell. A stream with waterfalls runs thru the garden into a koi pond adding visual interest.

The HOSTA GARDEN, this area was resurrected after several years of neglect and became a pet project for #1 daughter, Cheryl. She has accumulated just over 400 different hosta varieties. They are intermingled with other shade loving plants underneath some vintage maples, beech and oak. It is a soothing stroll on a hot afternoon.

Northern Michigan Bird SThe BIRD SANCTUARY, a chipped path takes you around the perimeter of the south five acres where plantings have been done to encourage feeding and nesting our local feathered friends. We have observed many a different species from the common Robin to the rare pileated woodpecker.

Cut Flower Gardens, Northern MichiganThe CUTFLOWER GARDENS, line the driveway as you enter the long drive to the main garden center. Sunflowers, zinnias and cosmos are a few of the bounty we grow. They also add food for the birds as we let them go to seed in the fall.

Bird Sanctuary, Frankfort, MichiganThe NATURE EXHIBIT rounds out our gardens with all of the above in an encapsulated area. You can see Monarch butterflies emerging from their chrysalis…frogs and painted turtles swimming in the pond. Look for the queen bee in the observation hive, maybe even feed the miniature ducks!

There is much to see. Bring a camera, your family or some friends and enjoy the day. For larger groups we would appreciate advance notification of your visit to accommodate you better. Hope to see you soon!
